Dr. Opal Lee – better known as the "Grandmother of Juneteenth" – recently visited Goodyear Elementary to read her children’s book, "Juneteenth: A Children’s Story" to third-, fourth- and fifth-graders. Dr. Lee, who will be 97 years old in October, helped lead the movement to gain federal recognition of the holiday.
