Students are considered for gifted assessment through the automatic or reported referral process.
Automatic Referrals:
All students in grades 1-5 participated in the MAP Growth nationally normed assessment for achievement. Students who score at or above the 90th percentile in reading or math will be "automatically" referred for a gifted screening.
Reported Referrals:
A student may also be referred for a gifted screening via the "reported" referral process. A student may be referred by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or guardians, peers, self or other individual with knowledge of the student's abilities.
